2026 Pain Medicine Short Course (May)

This online course is an introductory overview to perioperative and acute-on-chronic pain management relevant for medical, nursing and allied health staff.
Through following the journey of a patient with chronic pain who needs acute care and new surgery, participants will develop an appreciation of:
- the burden of chronic pain
- the mechanisms behind both acute and chronic pain
- how to best assess patients with pain
- ways to modify the patient experience to help minimise the burden of pain
Course dates:
Monday 4 May – Friday 12 June 2026

Monday 14 September – Friday 23 October 2026
Mode: 6-week online course
Time commitment: 4–6 hours per week (on average)
Assessment: There is no assessment
Registration fee: From AUD $400 (incl. GST)
This course is aimed at any clinical staff who would like an introductory overview to perioperative and acute-on-chronic pain management, including (but not limited to):
- Doctors (all specialties)
- Nurses
- Allied health professionals
