Safety: every job, every day starts with identifying hazards

October is National Safe Work Month – a time to shine a light on workplace health and safety and protect those who care for us most. The healthcare and social assistance sector continues to experience some of the highest rates of harm.
Our healthcare workers are:
- In short supply, particularly in rural and remote areas
- Under significant pressure and strain from large workloads and challenging environments
- Facing high rates of burnout, fatigue and moral injury – especially post-pandemic
To deliver safe, high-quality care, we must prioritise the health, wellbeing and safety of our healthcare workforce.
✅ We’re calling for Chief Medical Wellbeing Officers to be appointed nationally.
✅ We urge healthcare organisations to engage our experts on solutions.
✅ Involve an Occupational and Environmental Medicine physician to help reduce psychosocial hazards.
Let’s make every workplace a safe one — for every worker, every day
