  • Salary – MDP2, $99,707.00 - $158,523.00 + 12% Superannuation and Salary Sacrifice Benefits
  • Full Time, Multiple Positions Available, Temporary (fixed term) contract up until 3 February 2030

The PICU Registrar position offers broad experience in Paediatric critical care. Under Consultant supervision you will work integrally with an experienced team to provide high quality care to critically ill and injured children.

Key duties of the role
  • Participate in all duties associated with inpatients, including assessment of new admissions, care coordination, management of the day-to-day progress of assigned patients in the ward, discharge planning, and follow up arrangements.
  • Provide supervision and training of more junior Trainee Medical Officers. 
  • Perform emergency and routine patient care procedures under supervision.
  • Be responsive to patient and relative complaints.
  • Ensure patients and their families are able to exercise their rights and responsibilities.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent.
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. 
  • Minimum 2 years satisfactory experience as an Intern/Resident Medical Officer/Registrar in a recognised teaching hospital.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills (both clinical and individual).

As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 6-12 months allocation to Paediatric Intensive Care Registrar will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
