Provide high-quality medical care to patients within the Department of Medicine at Alice Springs Hospital, under the guidance and supervision of specialist medical staff. Contribute to the supervision, teaching and development of junior medical officers.

Registrar positions are suitable for doctors from postgraduate year 3 (PGY3) and above, including Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) and doctors from other relevant training pathways seeking experience in General and Acute Care Medicine.

The Department provides broad clinical experience in General and Acute Care Medicine, with potential rotations through Cardiology, Oncology and Nephrology subject to availability. ICU placements may also be available for suitably experienced trainees.

BPTs are supported in undertaking the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Basic Training program with a structured physician teaching program. Registrars are expected to actively participate in training, professional development and cultural orientation opportunities. 

• Eligible for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• A minimum of 3 years postgraduate medical experience, including relevant clinical experience in Medicine and demonstrated capacity to undertake the responsibilities of a Registrar.
• Demonstrated clinical skills and commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care.
• Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and a commitment to providing culturally safe care to Aboriginal patients and communities.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development, teaching and quality improvement activities.
