Description
In Queensland basic physician training is coordinated through the Queensland Basic Physician Training (Adult Medicine) Network. The network involves a personalised approach for each trainee’s journey through basic training and ensures access to placements that fulfil RACP training requirements, and centralised selection into training requiring one state-wide application and interview.
The network comprises 5 hospital-based rotations:
- Coastal rotation
- Far North rotation (Cairns)
- North Queensland Rotation (Townsville)
- Northside rotation
- Southside rotation
Coordinated educational support is provided to network trainees in the lead up to their FRACP examinations, including access to distributed learning opportunities and enhanced educational experiences across all hospital placements.
Essential qualifications
- hold general unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- be eligible for registration with the RACP as a basic physician trainee
- have completed internship by the end of RMO term 1 (29 March 2026) in the year of application to the network.
