Join WA Country Health Service (WACHS) as a General Medicine Physician and play a key role in delivering innovative healthcare programs across the sought-after Great Southern region.

We have 2 positions available: 0.80 FTE part time and 0.60 FTE sessional. Sessional Year 1- 9: $790.09 - $1,003.40 per session. One session equals 4 hours. (Inclusive of base salary, PD allowance and 12% superannuation). 

About the role

As a Consultant Physician in General & Acute Care Medicine at Albany Health Campus, you'll contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient specialist services across the Great Southern region.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate across a block roster including inpatient care, Hospital in the Home, outpatient clinics, consultation-liaison and rapid access (HomeSafe) services
• Collaborate within a highly skilled team, practising to full scope in general and acute care medicine 
• Contribute to innovative models of care focused on hospital avoidance and patient‑centred outcomes
• Provide clinical leadership, driving quality and safety within a large multidisciplinary team
• Supervise, mentor and educate a broad cohort of trainees (BPT, Advanced, ICU, Rural Generalist), RMOs and Interns 
• Work in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility to adapt to varied service delivery models and competing priorities
• Participate in a flexible, block‑rostered model with shared on-call and overtime commitments, supported by a large physician team and 24/7 intensivist‑led HDU services

Essential qualifications

• Hold registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for General Medicine, or be eligible for Fellowship 
• Substantial clinical experience relevant to the role
