The Department of General and Acute Care Medicine is the largest inpatient medical unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital. Medical Registrars participate in the full spectrum of acute care from admission to discharge with the support of a multi-disciplinary team. They also form a vital part of the medical emergency team (MET) for the hospital.

Our medical registrar positions provide opportunities for those seeking RACP-accredited Basic Physician Training. We pride ourselves on a strong BPT training programme supported by our Directors of Physician Education, and by physicians throughout the hospital with a strong commitment to supporting trainees through exam preparations. We have recently restructured and strengthened our BPT teaching program to further optimise support for our trainees. The BPT trainees get 5 hours of paid teaching time per week according to the new award established this year.

Salary:

$134,930 - $189,005 per annum Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar). Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.

Period of Employment:

Fixed-term, full-time day work, 76 hours per fortnight (+ 10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro-rata), starting from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
