The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will be a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Shire from Narooma to Batemans Bay.
The new hospital will be larger than both Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined, designed with the capacity to grow as demand for services changes.
Using the latest technology and models of care, the new hospital will deliver patient-centred health services close to home.
The Paediatrician will provide expert paediatric medical assessment and management of patients within the Department of Paediatrics.
The role also includes a key clinical role in teaching, supervision and support of junior medical staff.
The position will commence at the current Moruya Hospital and assist in the transition to the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital.
Once established, the role will primarily be located at Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, however may be varied as agreed with the District Director of Medical Services and District Medical Lead (Paediatrics), and as approved via Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC), to other facilities in Southern NSW.
The Paediatrician will be the first Eurobodalla-based paediatrician joining the coastal paediatric team based at South East Regional Hospital.
The Eurobodalla paediatrician will be expected to provide outpatient clinics at the current Moruya Hospital and then the Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, as well as outreach clinics in Narooma and Batemans Bay, with the possibility of additional sites being added in the future.
Essential qualifications
- Recognised specialist qualifications – Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
Suitable applicants who are expected to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months will be considered, and Advanced Trainees nearing completion of their training are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics (including learning, development and behavioural medicine).
Demonstrated interest and skills in paediatric service development, innovative models of care, and project leadership is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build collaborative partnerships towards a successful outcome.
- Strong skills in training and capacity building with demonstrated commitment and skills in teaching, continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated effective clinical and interpersonal communication skills including effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills and use of information technology.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time, and current licence to drive in NSW.
