Coffs Harbour Health Campus, Mid North Coast Local Health District
Coffs Harbour has an above average older population, with 22.1% of residents aged 60+ against a state average of 16.2%, a figure set to rise further by 2040. We're seeking a dedicated Staff Specialist Geriatrician to help meet this growing need within the Coffs Clinical Network.
Reporting to the CCN Clinical Director of Medicine, you'll have genuine scope to help build ambulatory geriatric services locally, including frailty assessment, falls prevention and cognitive impairment care, while providing comprehensive inpatient and consultative care, a consult service for senior medical staff, timely treatment plans, and Capacity Assessments across the network.
You'll teach and train across medical, nursing and allied health staff, and contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and peer review. Participation in the mandatory General Medicine on-call roster at Coffs Harbour Health Campus, shared equally with other Physicians, is required, along with a current NSW driver's licence. You'll bring strong communication skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential qualifications
- registration with the Medical Board of Australia (including overseas trained pathways)
- significant experience in a regional hospital setting
- strong communication and multidisciplinary leadership skills
- genuine commitment to ongoing education and quality improvement
This is a rare opportunity to help shape a growing service from the ground up, while enjoying the coastal lifestyle and community connection the Mid North Coast offers.
