Description

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a 7 day per week short-stay unit designed to deliver timely, evidence-based and holistic care during the admission phase of adult medical inpatient care. The AMU provides early senior medical and multidisciplinary input for patients that require admission under internal medicine units. It also allows further work-up of patients with acute undifferentiated medical conditions in a non-Emergency Department clinical space.

The AMU is physician-led with dedicated medical, nursing, allied health and support staff to ensure patients begin their hospital journey with an accurate and comprehensive management plan. Applicants should have had training and experience in Acute and General Medicine or relevant medical sub-specialty.

The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment with a team of nursing, allied health and medical staff, including Advanced and Basic Physician Trainees and Resident Medical Officers. Potential total package value of $344,062 to $453,341 (Inclusive of additional incentives and allowances) dependent on the level of experience and participation.

Full Time Indicative Base Package Value: $344,062 to $453,341 (Pro Rata part time)

Indicative Base Package inclusive of:

  • Base Salary $204,936 to $274,696
  • Superannuation (12.5%)
  • Private Practice Allowance – Scheme A
  • Professional development allowances
  • On-call allowance 17.5%
  • Mobile Phone allowance
  • Generous leave provisions, including up to 4 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum
  • Annual Leave Loading 17.5%

Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise. Additional incentives and allowances to the base package Value: $50,000 to $75,000. Attraction and Retention Incentive’s (ARIn) available for this position - Subject to meeting eligibility criteria - (pro-rata for part time)

Note: This position is part-time at (16:00) hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata.

Essential qualifications

  • Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
