The Subcommittee currently has 1 vacancy for a Trainee Representative and 1 vacancy for a Representative to join the Basic Training Adult Medicine Division who is interested in contributing towards discussions and the decision-making process on the Accreditation of a Training Provider (settings) and the Adult Internal Medicine Basic Training Program.
This is a particularly exciting time to join the Subcommittee following implementation of the new Training Provider Accreditation Program on 1 January 2021 for all basic training settings.
The accreditation of training settings is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s physicians. The College and the Adult Internal Medicine Basic Training Committee are responsible for ensuring all training is undertaken in accredited training settings, and this is managed by the Adult Medicine Division Accreditation Subcommittee.
Key responsibilities:
- attend at least 4 Subcommittee meetings a year (meetings generally run for approximately 5 hours in total with the first 2 hours allocated for decisions regarding Joint Training Provider accreditation, in collaboration with the Basic Training Paediatrics & Child Health Division)
- read meeting agendas and papers sent approximately 1 week before meetings
- help support and implement the new accreditation program for training settings and the Adult Internal Medicine Basic Training Program
- take part in accreditation activities, including site visits (in person or online), reviewing progress reports, and documents about training settings
- join discussions and decisions on the accreditation of training settings that offer both Adult Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health basic training programs
- work closely with the Training Accreditation Services team
Members are appointed to the Subcommittee for a 3-year term with the option to renew a further term.
This is a voluntary position. However, to support and thank you for your contributions towards accreditation, you'll receive CPD points for your completed activities.
In addition, all relevant travel, meals and accommodation costs for attending face-to-face Subcommittee meetings and any site visits are covered by the College, in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
