The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) is the peak professional body for infectious diseases and clinical microbiology in Australasia. Our purpose is “Advancing prevention, diagnosis and care of infectious diseases through advocacy, education and research.”
In 2025 we're hosting a multi-disciplinary event focusing on emerging respiratory diseases. The event will be held on 1 & 2 August at the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney.
The theme for the event is Respiratory Resilience: One Health Approaches to Tackling Emerging Infectious Threats.
The program will focus on a variety of topics across human and animal health and bring together all special interest areas in infectious disease management.
Our steering committee have identified 6 key topic areas:
One health approaches to avian influenza and other viruses
Viral therapeutics and prevention strategies in high-risk populations
RSV and more – a focus on prevention
Communicating in a crisis – insights from those on the front line
Preparing for the next pandemic – vaccines and NPIs for future threats
Infection X – viral emergence, evolution and diagnosis
