Diastolic Dysfunction and Measurements Made Easy

Date:
22 May 2026 at 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM

This 1-day workshop delivers a focused and clinically relevant deep dive into left ventricular diastolic function, tailored specifically for point-of-care ultrasound users.

It's designed to simplify what is often seen as a complex area, translating guideline-based echocardiographic assessment into practical, bedside decision-making tools.

Throughout the day, participants will develop a clear understanding of how and why the heart relaxes and fills, and how this directly impacts patient presentation—particularly in cases of dyspnoea, shock, and undifferentiated haemodynamic instability.

The workshop covers key diastolic parameters including mitral inflow (E/A), tissue Doppler (e’), E/e’ ratio, TR velocity, left atrial volume, pulmonary venous flow and IVRT, with a strong emphasis on how to acquire, interpret, and integrate these measurements in real time.

A core focus of the course is bridging the gap between image acquisition and clinical application.

Delegates will learn how to combine multiple echocardiographic findings to assess filling pressures and identify diastolic dysfunction patterns, enabling more confident and informed clinical decisions at the bedside.

The workshop is highly practical, with extensive hands-on scanning time in small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence, complemented by concise, high-yield mini lectures and case-based learning.

If you're looking to move beyond basic image acquisition and develop a structured, clinically meaningful approach to diastology in point-of-care cardiac ultrasound, this workshop is the ideal next step.
