Host:
RACP VIC

You're invited to a special in-person AFOEM Educational Meeting with Industrial Hygienist Aleks Todorovic, presenting on the use of wirelessly-connected wearable occupational hygiene monitoring devices and how they aid hygienists in reducing workplace exposures.

Aleks is generously bringing a range of devices as the key focus of his presentation, and all members are encouraged to make time to join us in person at the RACP VIC Office in Melbourne.

Presentation Information:

Wearable devices like smartwatches and heart rate monitors have become increasingly popular in the health and fitness markets over the past decade.

Suppliers of industrial safety monitoring equipment have advanced traditional instruments (noise dosimeters, dust monitors, gas detectors) to include wireless communication and cloud-based or smartphone applications.

These new wearable devices are smaller, more functional, and more affordable, allowing wider use among workers and improved monitoring access for hygienists.

Explore whether advancements in 'connected wearable' occupational hygiene monitoring devices and the Internet of Things will provide long-term benefits or if they are a passing trend.

Speaker:

Aleks Todorovic MSc (OHP) is President-elect of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists and Managing Director of Active Environmental Solutions Australia.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Review the currently available connected monitoring devices in occupational hygiene.
  • Analyse real-world industry examples of the current use of connected monitoring technology.
  • Evaluate the suitability of these devices for exposure assessments.
  • Identify limitations to the greater adoption of connected monitoring devices.
  • Explore future applications of connected wearable technology in occupational hygiene.
