RACP submission to the review of My Health Record Legislative Instruments
Date published:

We made a submission to the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing on the legislative framework for My Health Record (MHR) calling for reforms to boost specialist engagement. A fit-for-purpose MHR will improve outcomes for physicians and patients.
We’ve highlighted the barriers physicians face - like limited incentives, technical hurdles, and privacy concerns - and recommended reforms that make MHR more usable, secure and clinically valuable.
This includes:
- specialist-specific incentives to support uptake
- improved interoperability and structured data standards
- stronger access controls and privacy safeguards
- better education and support for clinicians.
Our goal: a system that works for you, supports coordinated care, and ultimately improves outcomes for patients. Our thanks to members who provided input on this matter.
