Have your say in the 2026 Medical Training Survey

The Medical Board of Australia’s Medical Training Survey (MTS) is now open. All doctors-in-training in Australia — including RACP Trainees and Overseas Trained Physicians (OTPs) currently undertaking the specialist assessment pathway — are encouraged to take part and share their experiences. 

The survey is open until Thursday, 8 October 2026.

Why your feedback matters 

The MTS provides an important opportunity for trainees to help shape the future of medical education and training in Australia. 

Each year, survey responses offer valuable insights into the experiences of doctors in training, highlighting what is working well and where improvements are needed. These findings support ongoing efforts across the health and education sectors to strengthen training environments, enhance supervision and learning opportunities, and improve trainee wellbeing.  

Previous survey results have shown strong levels of satisfaction with the quality of training and clinical supervision. They have also identified areas that continue to require attention, including workload pressures, workplace culture, protecting time for teaching and learning, and ensuring clear communication about training requirements. You can explore the results from previous surveys on the MTS interactive dashboard. 

By sharing your experiences, you can contribute to positive change and help create a more supportive, inclusive and effective training environment for current and future trainees. 

How to access the survey 

Eligible participants will receive a unique link to the survey through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) as part of the medical registration renewal process.
