The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) has congratulated the New Zealand Government for its leadership and swift action to make the country safer with improved gun control.

President of the RACP, Associate Professor Mark Lane, who works at Auckland Hospital said:

“This is swift and firm action at a time of national tragedy. We congratulate the government and stand with them on these important reforms.

“This show of strong leadership will make New Zealand safer and help the nation heal.

RACP NZ President Jeff Brown who is based at Palmerston North Hospital said:

”Our thoughts are primarily with the families of those lost and with the Muslim community. Everyone regardless of religion should have the right to feel safe in their homes and communities.
