WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is currently inviting expressions of interest for the 2027 Rural Adult Physician Training Opportunities and Rotations (RAPTOR) program in Kalgoorlie.

This is a fixed term full time appointment for 12-months commencing in January 2027, with the possibility of extension(s).

Salary

RMO Year 1 - 3 $118,605.76 - $140,748.16 p.a. Including base salary, professional development allowance, and 12.5% superannuation.

About the role

Rural Adult Physician Training Opportunities and Rotations (RAPTOR) One is a 12-month full time program for WA Country Health Service (WACHS) junior doctors (PGY2+) who hold unrestricted general registration with the Medical Board of Australia and are interested in rural Physician Training. This appointment is specific to WACHS - Kalgoorlie Health Campus only.

The program aims to provide the successful candidate with relevant term rotations and professional development to help prepare them to apply for Basic Physician Training. As part of the program, you'll be given priority for the following professional development opportunities:

  • Clinical Service Improvement Program, Research Project, or audit
  • WACHS Foundations of Leadership Program
  • Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support 2 Course
  • Senior clinician mentoring and support
  • CV and Interview Skills education and support
  • Teaching opportunities with Rural Clinical School medical students; and
  • Opportunities to present at Hospital Grand Round and departmental teaching.

The successful applicant will be matched with suitable rotations that can include at least two medical terms, ED term and a Clinical Service Improvement term. 

  • Applicants must hold unrestricted general registration with the Medical Board of Australia prior to commencement in the program.
  • Applicants with limited or provisional registration may be considered where they are on track to achieve unrestricted general registration by 18 January 2027 (start of RMO term). 
  • This position does not have capacity to support International Medical Graduate (IMG) applications requiring supervision.

Note: Applicants are applying for entry into the RAPTOR program. Successful entry to the program will include employment with WACHS for the duration of the program.
