The Launceston General Hospital is offering exciting opportunities for Paediatric Registrars in 2027, providing an excellent environment to advance clinical skills in a supportive setting. Positions are full-time shift worker roles, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 1 February 2027. Appointments of 6, 12, and 24 months will be considered. You'll also receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, supporting ongoing learning and professional development.
This busy hospital features a comprehensive paediatric service, including a 34-bed general paediatric ward, a 4-bed short stay unit, a 12-bed Level 2 neonatal nursery, and a well-established outpatient department. The role offers broad exposure across general paediatrics, neonatal care, and developmental health.
The neonatal unit manages infants from 32 weeks gestation, with approximately 1,500 deliveries per year. Outpatient clinics include both medical and developmental cases.
The department is staffed 24/7 by registrars, with consultant oversight on site during working hours and on call overnight. A strong team structure includes registrars, a senior registrar, consultants, and rotating resident medical officers. The position involves a mix of daytime, after-hours, and weekend work.
Accredited by the RACP, the program supports advanced training in general paediatrics, including perinatal and community components. - General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
