The purpose of the JMO Provisional Fellow role is to conduct initial assessment of infants and children, monitoring progress, ongoing management, and organising timely follow up at Nepean Hospital, NBMLHD.

This role provides opportunity for General Paediatric Trainees with a strong interest to gain further training in Endocrinology.

All patients managed within the health service are managed under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding a patient's care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.

Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the JMO Provisional Fellow's skills, knowledge and experience under the guidance and discretion of the appropriate specialist medical practitioner.

The JMO Provisional Fellow is responsible for:

  • Working closely with members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Dealing with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, exercising discretion, sensitivity, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Building on the clinical knowledge and skills gained during training.
  • Undertaking research projects and protocol development.
  • Providing supervision and teaching to JMOs and medical students.

RACP OTP top up training and peer review for General Paediatrics and psychosocial/community paediatrics is possible.

RACP research project support is available.

Essential qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent.
  • This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent's registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Cleared National Police Check.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, including any amendments made from time to time.
