Description

The program offers accredited positions in Hobart, as well as in Launceston and Burnie.

Positions are accredited for core General Paediatrics and rural General Paediatrics with a perinatal component.

The Community Paediatric and Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine rotations are also accredited for developmental/ psychosocial training.

‘Stream’ positions are available to offer trainees a guaranteed 3-year position in which time they complete all advanced training requirements.

Accredited sub-speciality advanced training positions are available in Community Child Health, Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine and Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.

  • 6 x General Paediatrics AT positions
    • 2 x 3-year stream position
    • 2 x General Paediatric Registrar AT
    • 1 x General Paediatric Senior Registrar AT
    • 1 x Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine AT
  • 1 x Adolescent Medicine AT (accredited for adolescent Medicine)
  • 3 x Community and Child Health AT (accredited for community/developmental and community paediatrics)
  • 4 x Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care AT
    • 2 x NPICU AT/Senior Registrar
    • 2 x Transport Registrar

Salary

$134,930 - $189,005 per annum


Classification

Medical Practitioner Level 5-11


Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work working 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time) commencing from 1 February 2026 until 7 February 2028.


Essential qualifications

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

  • 1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • a) Crimes of Violence
    • b) Sex Related Offences
    • c) Serious Drug Offences
    • d) Crimes involving dishonesty
  • 2. Identification check
  • 3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
