I graduated from QLD University in 1967 and began working at the RMO Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane from 1967-1968. I worked at the RMO Queen Hospital for Children between 1969-1970.
I moved to the UK in 1970 and received a Diploma in Child Health, then worked in both London and Birmingham as Medical registrar MRCP(UK) between 1970-1973. I returned to Australia in 1973 and began work as a Specialist Physician in Kempsey, NSW where I remained until 1986. From 1986 to 2007 I worked as a Consultant Physician at Hamilton Medical Group in Victoria. Admitted to the RACP in 1995. I retired from practice in 2009.
'A memorable event in my early medical life was as a tour doctor travelling in Land Rovers across Iran and Afghanistan to Kabul in 1973 (before the Russians got there).'
