Nominate
Members of the College and/or College bodies can nominate distinguished or renowned members of the medical profession and other respected and acclaimed individuals for the Award of Honorary Fellowship.
Eligibility
Honorary Fellowship of the College may be awarded to distinguished or renowned members of the medical profession who have made extraordinary contributions to the College or to health and medicine within Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand or internationally.
Individuals seeking Fellowship of the College and current RACP members are ineligible for nomination.
Entitlements
Honorary Fellowship is a membership category that is not associated with an RACP Division, Faculty or Chapter.
Recipients of an Honorary Fellowship are entitled to:
- Honorary Fellowship testamur
- use of the post-nominal 'FRACP (Hon)'
- access to College publications, including journals
- access to the members-only digital content
- the waiving of annual Fellowship fees
Honorary Fellowship does not:
- entitle the recipient to vote in relation to governance matters of the College, including at any General Meetings
- give the recipient any right of recognition as a specialist physician/paediatrician or the right to practice as a specialist
Selection criteria
Nominees must meet the mandatory criteria and at least one of the additional criterion.
In your nomination, please detail the contributions of the nominee and answer how they have addressed the selection criteria.
Mandatory criteria
1. Contribution to the College or health and medicine
Has the nominee made an extraordinary and sustained contribution to the College or to health and medicine in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand?
For nominees outside of Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand, have they made an extraordinary and sustained interaction with the College or an outstanding contribution to national or international health and medicine?
Additional criteria
1. Professional service
Has the nominee held any positions of professional importance and leadership?
2. Research
What research contributions and publications of international significance has the nominee made?
Have they been able to secure national funding for their research?
3. Teaching/professional education
Has the nominee shown evidence of national and/or international recognition for leadership and innovation in teaching and professional education?
4. Interaction with medicine in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand
Has the nominee been involved in significant contributions to medicine in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand?
Submit your nomination
To nominate someone for the Award of Honorary Fellowship, submit a completed nomination form along with a written application to the RACP President, including a:
- letter of nomination from a member of the College
- letter of support from a College body
- detailed CV
Nominate
The RACP Conflicts Of Interest Policy (PDF) and Privacy Policy apply to all nominees.
Selection process
The RACP Fellowship Committee reviews all nominations and recommends deserving recipients to the RACP Board for consideration.
The RACP Board reserves the right not to award Honorary Fellowship of the College if they feel the recommendation and/or all nominations presented don't sufficiently meet the criteria.
