Overseas Trained Physicians

If you have completed your specialist training to become a Physician outside Australia or New Zealand, you are an Overseas Trained Physician.

Overseas Trained Physicians need to be assessed before they can practise as accredited physicians in Australia or New Zealand.

Practising as a Physician in Australia

To practise as a Physician in Australia, an Overseas Trained Physician needs to be assessed by the RACP.

To practise as a Physician in New Zealand, an Overseas Trained Physician needs to be assessed by the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

International Medical Graduates

If you have completed your medical degree overseas but have not completed your specialist Physician training, you are an International Medical Graduate.

As an International Medical Graduate, you can:
