Description

The Adult Medicine Division (AMD) is a Division of the RACP that represents and connects Adult Medicine Fellows and trainees across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The AMD Council provides leadership and support for Fellows of the Division in their continuing professional development and, where appropriate, the Adult Medicine education program for trainees. The next AMD Council meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, 12 November 2026.

About the role

The AMD Council has added 2 new positions to its membership:

  • a representative nominated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Committee (ATSIHC)
  • a representative nominated by the Māori Health Committee (MHC)

We're seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representative to join the AMD Council for a 3-year term. The successful applicant will work with the AMD President to help guide the governance and strategic direction of the Division in a collaborative and consultative environment.

This position is open to College Fellows and trainees. The representative will be nominated by ATSIHC and appointed following Board approval. It's not necessary to be a current member of ATSIHC.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend AMD Council meetings
  • Represent the interests and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Adult Medicine Fellows and trainees, as relevant to the work of the AMD Council
  • Support the ongoing development of the Adult Medicine Division
  • Help foster productive and respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Fellows and the AMD Council
  • Adhere to the RACP's policies on the prevention of discrimination and harassment
