Description

The Adult Medicine Division (AMD) is a Division of the RACP that represents and connects Adult Medicine Fellows and trainees in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The AMD Council has responsibility for a leadership and supportive role for Fellows of the Division in their continuing professional development and, where appropriate, the Adult Medicine education program for trainees. 

The AMD Council has recently added 2 new roles, a representative nominated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Committee (ATSIHC) and a representative nominated by the Māori Health Committee (MHC).

You will assist the AMD President in guiding the governance framework and direction of the Division in a mutually co-operative and consultative atmosphere.  You will be appointed by ATSIHC and then approved by the Board for a 3-year term following Board approval. You don't have to be a current member of ATSIHC.

The AMD Council meets twice per year: 

  • Thursday, 21 May 2026 | Sydney. Travel expenses covered in line with RACP’s travel guidelines (PDF)
  • Thursday, 12 November 2026 | Online  

Key responsibilities

  • Attend AMD Council meetings
  • Represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander AMD Fellows of the College, relevant to the work of AMD Council
  • Assist the AMD Council to further develop the AMD
  • Assist in ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander AMD Fellows of the College and the AMD Council are working productively and harmoniously
  • Adhere to the RACP’s policies on prevention of discrimination and harassment
