Description

Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee

The Aotearoa New Zealand Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Committee supports the professional careers of Fellows and Trainees in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Working with relevant College Bodies and staff across medical education, policy and advocacy, Fellowship, and medical workforce, the Committee promotes and supports the practice of Public Health Medicine in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.

There is 1 vacancy for:

  • General member – An Aotearoa New Zealand-resident AFPHM Fellow with appropriate skills, experience or geographic representation to support the work of the Committee.

The Aotearoa New Zealand AFPHM Committee acknowledges Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the 5 Treaty principles articulated by the Waitangi Tribunal. The Committee is committed to ensuring its policies consider the wellbeing and mana of Māori as tangata whenua and uphold the principles of tino rangatiratanga, equity, active protection, options and partnership. The Committee also commits to upholding the Principles and Articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Takohanga | Responsibilities

The Committee meets up to 4 times each year. One meeting may be held kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington. Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy. The remaining meetings are held online via hui-ā-ataata (Zoom).

Most of the work takes place during scheduled meetings. Members should allow up to:

  • 2 hours of pre-reading before face-to-face meetings
  • 1 hour of pre-reading before online meetings

Members may also be asked to respond to communications between meetings.

Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and Experience Criteria

  • Be an AFPHM Fellow residing in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships
  • Be computer literate and have access to a computer
  • Have the ability and capacity to prepare thoroughly for participation in RACP activities
