Description

The EWG reports to the Training Program Committee – Sexual Health Medicine. The Training Program Committee - Sexual Health Medicine is responsible for the oversight of the Training Program in Sexual Health Medicine in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, including functions relating to assessment and examinations. 

An Aotearoa New Zealand Representation EWG Member position is open for expressions of interest.

Context

The new Sexual Health Medicine curriculum and Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) program has been implemented for new trainees commencing in 2026. To support full implementation, the AChSHM Exit Assessment must be reviewed and aligned to the renewed curriculum.

To progress this work, the Training Program Committee – Sexual Health Medicine is establishing the AChSHM Examinations Working Group to:

  • define the purpose, curriculum focus, format, and passing criteria of the new curriculum examination (Exit Assessment)
  • develop resources to support the implementation of the new curriculum examination
  • incorporate feedback from the Training Program Committee – Sexual Health Medicine, also summarising reports to the Committee as required. 

Description 

The AChSHM EWG will contribute subject matter expert guidance on assessment design and curriculum alignment.

Responsibilities and deliverables

Members of the EWG will: 
  • contribute to defining the purpose, blueprint and format of the new curriculum Exit Assessment examination
  • participate in blueprint mapping, item review, and development of sample questions and examiner resources
  • support quality assurance activities to ensure examinations meet RACP assessment standards
  • provide expert advice to the Training Program Committee - Sexual Health Medicine on feasibility, educational validity and implementation consideration
  • attend working group meetings (2 annual face‑to‑face meetings plus videoconference meetings)

Apply 

To be a successful applicant, you must: 
  • be at least 2 years post Fellowship of the AChSHM
  • have unconditional AHPRA or MCNZ registration as a sexual health medicine physician
  • have prior involvement in the AChSHM Exit Assessment (highly desirable)
  • an Aotearoa New Zealand AChSHM Fellow
