Continuing professional development (CPD) is a professional obligation for all medical practitioners and is essential for maintaining and enhancing skills and knowledge in an evolving healthcare environment.

The Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPDC) oversees the College's CPD framework, ensuring it meets regulatory requirements, supports lifelong learning, and incorporates cultural safety principles.

Committee members contribute to strategic initiatives, policy development, and decision-making to maintain high professional standards and support the quality of healthcare services provided to communities across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

This role provides an opportunity to influence CPD policies and initiatives that support the professional development of Fellows, trainees, CPD participants, and overseas-trained physicians across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Paediatrics & Child Health Division Representative (Aotearoa New Zealand) will:

  • promote participation in the RACP CPD program
  • attend and actively contribute to CPDC meetings
  • provide a faculty perspective on matters relating to CPD policy and strategy
  • support communication and engagement between the CPDC and the Faculty

Committee meetings are held quarterly, comprising 1 face-to-face meeting and 3 meetings via Zoom each year.
