Position: Board Member
Remuneration: AUD$44,150 per annum

An individual expert will serve on the FSANZ Board to fill 1 of the 3 Aotearoa New Zealand membership positions.

FSANZ is governed by a Board of 11 members with expertise and experience relevant to food regulation. The FSANZ Board meets 8 times a year, 4 times in person and 4 by videoconference.

The Chair of the FSANZ Board has identified that nominees with experience or knowledge in the areas of economic and regulatory impact analysis, international trade and regulatory systems, digital, data and technology governance, financial oversight, small business and implementation experience would benefit the Board at this time.

Complementary appointment considerations include:

  • consumer policy and engagement
  • monitoring evaluation and performance
  • specialist scientific and food system expertise.

Nominees should also be familiar with the Crown’s obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The Australia and New Zealand Food Ministers’ Meeting also acknowledge the value of diversity and equal gender representation and encourage consideration of this when putting forward nominations.

MPI will compose a list of appropriate candidates to consider for nomination by the Minister for Food Safety. The Minister for Food Safety will then advise the responsible Australian Minister of the two preferred candidates to the FSANZ Board.
