Summary

The Training Program Committee (TPC) in General & Acute Care Medicine (GACM) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from General Physician Fellows to join the Committee as an Appointed Member.

Description

There is currently one Fellow position vacant on the TPC in the role of Appointed Member to start on the 20 November 2026.

The TPC in GACM oversees the Advanced Training program in GACM in the Adult Medicine Division.  One of the main responsibilities of the TPC is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress, including assessing various types of applications such as training applications and applications for Recognition of Prior Learning.

You will be involved in reviewing and monitoring training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and other stakeholders, and recommend changes to the College Education Committee, via the Training Program Management Committee. This is a great opportunity for Fellows who are willing to support current GACM Advanced Trainees and the training program.

In this role, you will help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of the program in Australia.

Other key responsibilities of the TPC include but are not limited to:

  • monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in GACM
  • accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in GACM including conducting site accreditation visits
  • advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assess and provide advice on General Physician specialist recognition for Fellows in the Adult Medicine Division who have not completed the GACM Advanced Training program
  • review Advanced Training Research Projects
  • attend meetings which are held three times per year, with 2 of the meetings potentially being face to face

Occasionally, you will receive emails out of session from the committee’s secretariat seeking the TPC’s advice or decision on trainee cases and applications.

For more information regarding the roles and composition of the TPC, please refer to the Terms of Reference (ToR) (PDF)

If you are successful, you will join the TPC for a three-year term that can be renewed for a further term.
