The College and the Training Program Committee (TPC) in General Paediatrics are responsible for ensuring that training in Australia is undertaken in accredited training settings.

The accreditation of settings for General Paediatrics is an essential activity that ensures high-quality training environments for tomorrow’s Physicians. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the Subcommittee with the appointment of 1 Fellow of the Paediatrics & Child Health Division who are interested in contributing to both the discussion and decision-making process regarding the accreditation of settings for the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program.

Key responsibilities

The following commitment is required of members. In this capacity, the Subcommittee is to:

• attend at least 4 Subcommittee meetings a year, with 1 face to face at the RACP Sydney Office
• schedule adequate reading time for agenda and papers, delivered approximately 2 weeks before each Subcommittee meeting
• work collaboratively with all accreditation accreditors and leads, relevant education committees within the College and Specialty Societies to ensure the standardisation of accreditation policy and process is upheld
• flexibility and a willingness to supporting the accreditation of training settings delivering the Advanced Training in General Paediatrics Training Program through site visits and videoconferences. Some site visits will require travel to and from the setting, any costs incumbent is covered by the RACP
• monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending minor program and policy change to the Advanced Training Committees as applicable, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College
• monitor, review, interpret and enforce accreditation criteria recommending any program and policy change to the College Education Committee (CEC) as the peak educational body of the College, in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and education committees within the College for decisions

Members are appointed for an initial term of 3 years. Subcommittee members can serve a maximum of 2 consecutive 3-year terms on the Subcommittee.

The role as a Subcommittee member is a voluntary position however to support and thank you for your contributions towards Accreditation, you'll receive CPD Points for the completed activities. In addition, all relevant travel, meals and accommodation costs for attending face-to-face Subcommittee meetings and any site visits is covered by the College, in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines.
