Description
The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) seeks to recruit an editor in Occupational and Environmental Medicine to join the Editorial Board of the Internal Medicine Journal, published by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Sydney. There are 32 specialty editors who report to the Editor-in-Chief, Dr Paul Bridgman, FRACP, and an Editorial Ombudsman on the Editorial Board.
Key responsibilities
Suitable applicants should have a strong publication record in the field of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
The scope of practice for editors' duties includes:
- Skill in the art of writing, editing, and critical assessment
- Timely assessment and selection of appropriate reviewers for submissions
- Arbitration of suitability for publication of submissions
- Soliciting high-profile reviews and timely submissions
- Advising on editorial policy considerations
- Providing the Editor-in-Chief with annual summary reports
- Familiarisation with electronic online peer review programs
- Attending the annual IMJ Editorial Board meeting
