The Medical Services Committee is seeking a committed Fellow to join as a Council Member, representing RACP. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the review and development of health policy, legislation, and regulatory frameworks that impact medical practice and patient care across New South Wales.
The Committee plays an important advisory role, providing expert input to the Minister and the Department on matters affecting the practice of medicine in NSW. This includes reviewing existing and proposed legislation, amendments, administrative arrangements, and policy directives that influence both patients and medical practitioners.
The Committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7pm via Zoom, with approximately 10 meetings held per year. At times, additional input may be required outside scheduled meetings, particularly when documents are circulated with short turnaround times.
All materials for review, including draft legislation, regulations, and policy documents, are distributed in advance. Members are expected to engage in thoughtful review to support informed discussion.
This is a fully remote role with no travel requirements. The term of appointment is 4 years, with the option for renewal for up to 2 additional terms, subject to nomination and continued interest.
We're seeking a Fellow who is reliable, engaged, and responsive, and who is committed to actively contributing to the Committee’s work and discussions.
