Description

The OTP Assessment Committee plays a key role in the assessment of OTPs by determining which physicians can work in Australia. Committee members have a direct impact on health service delivery and the quality of care across the Australian health system.

The following specialties are encouraged to apply:

  • Nephrology
  • Rheumatology
  • Cardiology
  • Infectious Diseases

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • interviewing OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience
  • determining, and where appropriate modifying, the requirements for OTPs to reach the standard of an Australian-trained physician, in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and the RACP
  • providing expertise on OTP assessment to the MBA, College staff and other College committees when required
  • monitoring OTP progress through to Fellowship
  • advising the OTP Team on key initiatives, projects and educational developments when required

Committee meetings are held via videoconference, with 1 face-to-face meeting each year, usually in Sydney.

The Committee is seeking to appoint a new member who is registered to practise in the Adult Medicine Division and/or the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine, or the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine.

The successful applicant will be appointed for an initial 3-year term.
