Expressions of interest are open for Fellows on the Overseas Trained Physicians (OTP) Assessment Committee, Paediatrics & Faculties.

Description

The OTP Assessment Committee plays a key role in the assessment of OTPs by determining which physicians and paediatricians can work in Australia. Members of the Committee can have a real impact on health service delivery and quality of care in the Australian health system.

Applications from the following specialties are encouraged:

  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Public Health Medicine
  • Occupational & Environmental Medicine
  • Paediatric Cardiology
  • Paediatric Neurology
  • Dual-trained Paediatrics Specialists 

Fellows from the Paediatrics & Child Health Division or Faculties who completed the specialist assessment pathway are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • interviewing OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience
  • determining, and sometimes modifying, requirements for OTPs to reach the level of an Australian trained physician or paediatrician in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and RACP
  • providing expertise relating to OTP assessment to the MBA, College staff and other College Committees (when required)
  • monitoring of the OTP's progress through to Fellowship
  • advising on key initiatives, projects and educational developments, as requested by the OTP Unit

The Committee meets monthly, up to 12 times per year. Meetings are held via
videoconference with 1 face-to-face meeting per year (usually held in Sydney).

The Committee is seeking to appoint a new member who is registered to practice in the Paediatrics & Child Health Division.

The member will be appointed for an initial 3-year term.
