The OTP Assessment Committees play a key role in assessing overseas trained physicians, helping determine who is eligible to practice in Australia.
As part of this process, you’ll help assess OTPs in Rheumatology/Paediatric Rheumatology. This may involve an interview to clarify the OTP’s qualifications, training and experience, as well a request for additional information related to the OTP’s specialist assessment application.
Key responsibilities
As a committee member, you may:
- interview OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience
- assist the committee interviewer(s) in drafting a report for the RACP
- provide expert advice to the OTP Assessment Committee (when needed)
After submitting your expression of interest
If selected, you’ll need to:
- complete a short online learning module
- attend 2 OTP interviews in a subspecialty area (depending on your availability) - you’re welcome to observe more if you'd like.
You’ll be contacted when interviews in Rheumatology/Paediatric Rheumatology are scheduled. Dates and times are based on the availability of committee interviewers. If you're not available, another specialist will be contacted. If you confirm your availability, please commit to attending—last-minute cancellations can cause significant delays for OTP applicants.
For each interview
- you’ll receive $400 AUD + $40 GST
- participate in a 1-hour Zoom interview
- complete and return the interview report within 1 week
