Description

One of the main roles of the Committee is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in General Paediatrics across Australia.

There will be 2x Fellow positions vacant on the Committee from September 2026 in the role of Appointed Member, ideally from the NT, TAS, SA or ACT.

In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of General Paediatrics in Australia.

Key responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • provide prospective approval of proposed training
  • review trainee progress and make progression decisions
  • modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • review Advanced Training Research Projects
  • oversee development and improvement of the training program curriculum

The Committee typically meets 9 times each year, with 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney. However, this number is likely to reduce from 2027 onwards. Members are appointed to the Committee for an initial 3-year term, which can be renewed once for a further and final 3-year term.
