The Training Program Committee in Medical Oncology (the Committee) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from Medical Oncology Fellows to join the Committee as an Appointed Member.

Description

One of the main roles of the Committee is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Medical Oncology in Australia.

There is currently 1 Fellow position vacant on the Committee. In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of Medical Oncology in Australia.

To ensure the membership of the Committee is representative of the Medical Oncology trainee cohort, the Committee is looking to appoint a Fellow from NSW. However, all eligible Fellows are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Entry to the training program
  • Recognition of Prior Learning and modifications to training program requirements for individual trainees
  • Prospective approval of proposed training
  • Monitoring trainee progress, making progress decisions and providing enhanced training support
  • Assessing applications for Special Requests
  • Supporting supervisors
  • Confirming completion of training program requirements for admission to Fellowship
  • Developing and improving the training program curriculum, including making recommendations for moderate and major changes
  • Accrediting training settings
  • Providing advice on the assessment of Overseas Trained Physicians (OTPs)
  • Reconsidering committee decisions and reviewing decisions made by child committees, where relevant.
  • Approving applications for Post Fellowship Specialty Recognition
  • Monitoring risks and issues within the training program and escalating them to the Training Program Management Committee

The Committee typically meets 3 times each year, including 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney. Members are appointed for an initial 3-year term, which may be renewed once for a further and final 3-year term.
