The Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) is pleased to announce that registrations are now open for the ADS Practical Skills Course for First Year Trainees in Adult Endocrinology.

Course overview
This 2-day course focuses on the hands-on practical skills required to care effectively for people with diabetes in inpatient and ambulatory clinical settings. It will be facilitated by senior endocrinologists and other diabetes health professionals.
Program highlights
- 1-hour lecture sessions
- 1.25–2-hour small group workshops covering:
- diabetes diet with a focus on carbohydrate counting
- prescribing medications for type 2 diabetes
- measuring glucose levels
- insulin and other injectable therapies
- managing inpatient glycaemia, including peri-operative management
- managing the diabetic foot (including ulcer management and footwear)
- programming insulin pumps (with hands-on experience)
- diabetes technology downloads (insulin pump/CGM)
- case studies in Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes
- diabetes eye examination and retinopathy
Registration details
The registration fee is $154 for both days. Full payment must be made when completing the online registration. Refunds will not be given for cancellations made after 17 February 2025.
- registration is only open to First Year Advanced Trainees in Adult Endocrinology
- trainees must be enrolled in the RACP Physicians Training Program in 2025
- attendance at both days is required to receive a certificate of attendance
- places are strictly limited—early registration is highly recommended
- interstate trainees should arrange travel/accommodation as early as possible
