The NSW/ACT Committee, with Doctors for the Environment Australia, invites you to Healthcare in a Changing Climate, a hybrid event exploring healthcare and climate change.
The event will feature guest speakers and a panel discussion on climate change's impact on healthcare and strategies to address these challenges.
Program
- Raise awareness and understanding of why climate change is described as "the biggest health threat of the 21st century" (Costello et al., The Lancet, 2009).
- Highlight the health impacts of burning fossil fuels and plastics.
- Explore the idea that "tackling climate change could be the greatest health opportunity of the 21st century" (Watts et al., The Lancet, 2015).
- Discuss what can be done at a 'top-down' organisational level.
- Examine what actions physicians can take to address the changing climate.
