An increasing proportion of women require treatment for mental health concerns in pregnancy. This presentation will provide an overview of medications used for mental health conditions in women of childbearing age, and their implications for both mother and fetus.
As is the case with other medical problems in pregnancy, optimal pharmacological management of mental health issues results in better perinatal outcomes than withholding medication on account of largely theoretical concerns regarding safety.
