Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Fellows: Apply to Become an Accreditor

Description

The RACP is responsible for accrediting training providers across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to ensure the delivery of high-quality workplace training, supervision, and clinical experience, supporting the development of competent and skilled physicians.

Accreditors play a crucial role in evaluating compliance with the Training Provider Standards, participate in site visits, offer insights from a trainee’s perspective based on their own practical experience, and contribute to informed accreditation decisions.

As an Accreditor, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in site visits both locally and interstate. These visits generally take around five hours and are scheduled according to your availability and any potential conflicts of interest. All visits conducted in line with all relevant local COVID-19 public health orders and restrictions. Where necessary, virtual site visits may also be arranged.

All travel-related expenses are covered by the College, in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines

Accreditors report to the RACP’s Accreditation Subcommittee in Adult Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health and for their accreditation activities, they'll be eligible to claim CPD points

Key responsibilities

As an Accreditor, you'll:

review all accreditation documentation submitted by the setting
assess compliance by a setting against the RACP Training Provider Standards and Standards and requirements | Basic Training Accreditation requirements
attend preliminary meetings with RACP staff in preparation for site visits
interview executives, Directors of Physicians/Paediatric Education, Education Supervisors and trainees at the setting
complete and make contributions towards the completion of the Accreditation Findings Form and External Assessment Report
provide recommendation to the Accreditation Subcommittee of an accreditation decision and findings for consideration

Are you eligible?

To be eligible for the role as an Accreditor, you must:

be a Fellow of the Adult Medicine or Paediatrics & Child Health Division
have at least two years of specialist experience
have participated in a medical education program
agree to act in the best interests of the College and in line with the RACP College values
have not been forcibly discharged from employment as a physician
have not had conditions placed on the registration as a Medical Practitioner by the Medical Board of Australia, AHPRA or any other relevant governing body
