Summary

Expressions of interest are open for AFOEM Fellows to join the Faculty Assessment Committee (FAC) as the Written Communication Portfolio (WCP) Lead.

Description

Represent the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) new Fellows as a Member – WCP Lead and earn CPD points while making a difference to trainees’ experience.

The Committee supervises the coordination of the development, preparation and measurement of examinations within the faculty. The Committee also plays a key role in supporting trainee assessment, recommending policy and program changes to the Faculty Training Program Committee (TPC) and the College Education Committee (CEC).

To be a successful applicant, you must have:

  • Unconditional AHPRA or MCNZ registration as an Occupational & Environmental Medicine Physician
  • Must be at least 2 years post Fellowship

Key responsibilities

  • Attend FAC meetings, providing updates pertaining to the WCP and marking and preparing agenda items and consulting with members (as needed).
  • Participate in other FAC-related activities. For example:
    • providing input for out-of-session FAC decisions (i.e. Circular Resolutions)
    • attending AFOEM Stage B Practical Examinations (as requested).
  • Review and respond to complex queries from AFOEM trainees and Fellows (e.g. WCP markers) and signing off on outcome and results letters. Confer with FAC Chair for further input, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the TPC (as parent committee of the FAC), providing input and advice as a representative of WCP work-based assessment.

The Committee typically meets 3 times a year. However, due to a high volume of activity within the faculty at present, the Committee will meet 4 more times in 2026: 3 videoconference meetings and 1 in-person meeting.

Members are appointed for 3 years, with the option to renew for a further term.
