Summary

We're seeking expressions of interest from Members to represent the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine interests on the College Education Committee.

Description

The purpose of the College Education Committee (CEC) is to be the College’s peak body responsible for developing and overseeing College-wide education policy and approving both new and amended training and education programs.

The functions and membership of the CEC are set out in the CEC By Law. Please note that an updated version of the By-law is underway.

Eligibility

  • Fellowship of the RACP and a Member of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine
  • In-depth knowledge of the medical education environment and experience in one or more RACP training program, assessment and/or accreditation committees/subcommittees
  • Credentials or significant experience in medical education at the postgraduate level
  • Experience in one or more elements of the College programs, including curricula, assessment, teaching and learning, accreditation, or education policy
  • Demonstrated understanding of the tertiary education environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern educational principles, including self-directed learning and adult learning principles

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare for meetings of the CEC, including reading agenda papers
  • Attend meetings of the CEC
  • Participate in member discussions and debate during meetings
  • Participate in votes, acting in the interests of the College as whole
  • Respect contributions of other members during debate and discussion of issues

Time commitment

Members of the CEC should be prepared to make the following commitment of time and energy:

  • 5 meetings annually, including virtual meetings and a minimum of 2 face-to-face meetings
  • Travel time to/from all face-to-face meetings held in Sydney
  • Reading time for papers which are delivered about one week before meetings: approximately 4 hours depending on the size and complexity of the agenda
  • Attendance at other College meetings to represent issues relating to education policy and training programs, as required
