The Training Program Committee in AYAM (the Committee) is seeking Expressions of Interest from Advanced Trainees in AYAM to join the Committee.

Description

One of the main roles of the Committee is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in AYAM across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

There is currently 1x Advanced Trainee position vacant on the Committee. In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of AYAM across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • entry to the training program
  • recognition of Prior Learning, and modifications to training program requirements for individual trainees
  • prospective approval of proposed training
  • monitoring of trainee progress, progress decisions and enhanced training support
  • applications for special requests
  • support for supervisors
  • confirmation of completion of training program requirements for admission to specialty recognition
  • development and improvement of training program curriculum including making recommendations for moderate and major changes
  • accreditation of training settings
  • advice on Overseas Trained Physicians (OTPs)
  • reconsideration of committee decisions
  • approval of applications for Post Fellowship Specialty Recognition
  • monitoring of risks and issues within the training program and escalation of these to the Training Program Management Committee

The Committee typically meets 2 times each year, with 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney. Members are appointed to the Committee for an initial 3-year term which can be renewed once for a further and final 3-year term.
