Description

One of the main roles of the TPC – Geriatric Medicine is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Geriatric Medicine for Australia.

There are currently 3 Fellow positions vacant on the Training Committee in the role of appointed member. Applicants from NSW, WA or QLD and non-metropolitan areas are preferred, however, Fellows from all states are welcome to apply.

This is a great opportunity for Fellows who are willing to support current Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainees and the training program.

In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of Geriatric Medicine in Australia.

You'll be involved in reviewing and monitoring the training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society(ies) and other stakeholders, and recommend changes to the College Education Committee, via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee.

Key responsibilities:

  • review applications for training
  • monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Geriatric Medicine
  • accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Geriatric Medicine
  • assess recognition of prior learning
  • advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • provide advice on specialty specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate
  • modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine for Fellows in the Adult Medicine Division who haven't completed the Geriatric Medicine Advanced Training program

Meetings are held 4 times per year with 1 face to face meeting which is usually in March.

Members are appointed to the TPC for a 3-year term and can be renewed for a further term.
