Emergency Resuscitation with Ultrasonography: a Simulation Course (ERUSC) – Lung Ultrasound (US) course will combine lung US image acquisition, optimisation and interpretation with simulation training for the resuscitation of the deteriorating short of breath (SOB) patient.
The course is comprised of didactic lectures, following with small group simulation based on skill level. You will learn to perform lung US on patient with significant lung pathology and to perform US guided procedures relevant to the resuscitation of the deteriorating SOB patient.
For the simulation sessions, these same groups will rotate through common presentations of the SOB patient. Each participant will have the chance to team lead, perform the US, interpret the images and perform US guided procedures.
The instructor to participant ratio on the day is 1:4 and our US instructors will have DDU, CCPU or hospital accreditation for lung US. Royal Melbourne Hospital emergency department SIM educators will be our SIM instructors on the day.
