RACP representatives recently met with South Australian Minister for Health and Wellbeing, the Hon, Blair Boyer MP, to discuss key priorities for physicians and patients.

We discussed our suggestions to increase system efficiency and reduce doctor burnout through digitisation of routine paperwork like referrals, prescribing, and timesheets.

Minister Boyer outlined his vision for easing hospital overcrowding and said the SA government would continue to prioritise workforce development and physician/trainee attraction and retention.

The conversation focused on:
  • improving rural, regional and remote health equitY
  • building a sustainable specialist workforce
  • the need for a fully-funded South Australian specialist workforce strategy
  • strengthening prevention, public health and disease surveillance
  • creating new centres of excellence and expanding specialist services
  • creating a new multidisciplinary paediatric obesity clinic.

We're encouraged by the Minister's commitment to workforce development and look forward to continuing to work together to deliver better health outcomes for South Australians.
