The RACP contributed to important policy issues for children and young people with disabilities through a submission (PDF) to the Select Committee Inquiry into Foundational and Disability Supports Available to Children and Young People in NSW. Thank you to members for valuable feedback that helped shape our RACP contribution.
The RACP submission highlights the need for the NSW Government to prioritise early intervention, integrated service models, and clearer access pathways. These are essential to improving health and wellbeing outcomes and creating an inclusive and equitable support system.
On 19 June, Dr Niroshini Kennedy FRACP, President of the Paediatrics and Child Health Division, and Dr Lydia So FRACP, NSW-based Developmental Paediatrician, kindly represented the RACP at a public hearing for the Inquiry. Their attendance ensured expert opinion and experience were clearly conveyed to the Committee.
The RACP calls for sustainable funding, investment in workforce development, and stronger cross-sector collaboration to ensure services are responsive, accessible, and aligned with national early intervention strategies.
